My love of the country and 'things wot grow' started as a child. My grandfather was a naturalist and the bird artist Fishhawk; he instilled in my father, and then myself an ability to observe and appreciate the landscape.
However it wasn't until 2003 that I really became interested in gardening and formed a small company specialising in maintaining and then designing small gardens. In 2007, we entered the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show with a small garden design, The Silver Glade, and was delighted to receive a Silver Medal. Encouraged by this extraordinary success, we entered again in 2008 and were rewarded with a Silver Medal for our urban small garden design, Convergence of the Elements. Since then our work has grown to encompass the design and build of therapeutic gardens which has resulted in the formation of Independent Gardening Ltd. This blog aims to bring some of my day-to-day experience and challenges to anyone interested in gardening - in whatever form!
